If you’re trying to promote a movie that doesn’t really have a clear-cut target audience and is likely to be overshadowed by more mainstream films, there’s really only one solution: Go on “Oprah.”
Which is exactly what the cast of “Nine” did. Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Kate Hudson paid a visit to the Queen of All Media, and brought a generous sampling of clips with them. We get clips of Kidman singing, Cotillard telling Day-Lewis what a lousy husband he is, and Cruz frolicking about in her underwear. And while I’m still not sure “Nine” will have enough mass appeal to strike box office gold, I am sure that it will have enough cleavage to satiate those who are dragged to see it against their will.
“Nine” would really, really like you to come see it Dec. 18 (Dec. 25 wide release).
