A ‘24’ Movie Update: Jack Gets His Life Back

— by JOSUE SANCHEZ —

The good folks over at Extra TV got the opportunity to catch up with Kiefer Sutherland, who once again teased us with a little more about plans for the “24” movie slated for 2012.

Everyone who watched the show will know that the character of Jack Bauer — played by Kiefer Sutherland — never, ever got a break. Yet, he single-handedly saved the lives of millions multiple time. Was this the reward the loyal agent deserved, to lose everything and everyone he loved? The writers and producers always felt so, and they stood by this decision until the end of the long-running series.

This was a great formula for shock purposes — kill off the person you least expect. But when you leave the man with nothing, then what does he fight for now?

But perhaps they have had time to reflect and change their minds. I mean, I hope they do. With this latest interview with the star and executive producer of the series, I sense hope for our battered hero Jack Bauer.

“I want to see Jack do a lot of things that are representative of the show,” Sutherland said. “I want him to be able to take his life back, and I think that’s going to be a large aspect of the film.”

This sounds like they want to mend all the damage they have caused this unselfish hero. And if by the end of the movie he can actually be happy, many fans, can breath a sigh of relief for Jack, who has had his share of suffering and is due a happy moment.

The highly-anticipated “24” movie will hit theaters in the summer of 2012.
