As summer approaches, we are preparing for a barrage of blockbusters to be landing in theaters. One in particular that has been laying low in comparison to others in terms of the promotional material it has released is “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” the third and final film in the Michael Bay Transformers trilogy.
After the major success of “Transformers” in 2007, it was a sure thing that there would be sequels. But, to the despair of critics and fans alike, 2009’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” failed to wow us and seemed gimmicky and cheesy.
Now, we have “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” crashing into theaters July 1. It is very clear that Michael Bay and Paramount Pictures have really taken to heart what fans wanted — and one of the largest changes was the replacement of Megan Fox with Rose Huntington-Whiteley. The other change was the tone of the movie, as you will see in this featurette, in which they discuss many things, including the music, the score and Linkin Park’s addition to the soundtrack.
There is a large amount of useful information in this clip to help us understand how “Dark of the Moon” is going to be different. First, it is a more serious movie, and the band Linkin Park will be using a new, more emotional song this time around. I have liked both of the previous songs they had in the other films and the song “Iridescent” is sure to lend another layer to the scenes it’s in.
To hear the band and the film’s composer talk about how different this film is gives me hope to think its returning to where it started — where we can care about each character and have a great story to follow. I’m really hoping for Michael Bay that this third and final film will be a stupendous close to his trilogy.

I think — like most people — I enjoyed the first one and hated the second one. I’m having trouble mustering any kind of enthusiasm for another one.

The second film was no worse than the terrible original. I’m always amused when people talk about how great the characters were in the first film. Plus, I don’t recall many demanding that Megan Fox be replaced by a Victoria’s Secret model with zero acting experience.
