“The Stepfather” is based on a cult-classic of the same name. In this remake, Michael Harding returns from military school and finds out that his mother is dating a new boyfriend. Terror ensues when Michael goes on the “America’s Most Wanted” Web site and sees a picture of his mother’s new lover.
It’s the same generic PG-13 horror romp that has been prevalent in Hollywood recently.
The film stars Dylan Walsh, Sela Ward, Penn Badgley, Jon Tenney and Amber Heard. The director is Nelson McCormick, who also directed the atrocious “Prom Night.”
The film will be released in theaters on Oct. 16. Until then, here are three clips from “The Stepfather”:
