Trailer Talk: ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’

— by ADAM POYNTER —

Well, it’s finally here — the first full-length trailer for “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.”

It’s almost as if they took a note from the editors who put together the most recent “X-Men: First Class” trailer. This new “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” trailer seems to have taken the teaser trailer — which focused only on one aspect of the film (space — with the quick, action-packed TV spot and molded them together to create for the first time a trailer that not only shows us the storyline, but also some character developments and even more action.

In the final movie in Michaels Bay’s “Transformers” trilogy, we start off with a fiery spaceship crashing on the moon, followed by astronauts invading the crash site. Then, it’s hinted that the U.S. Space program started keeping records and secrets of all these celestial events. Cut to the future, and Sam (Shia Lebeouf) and his new arm candy, Carly (Rose Huntington-Whiteley), are caught in the middle of another war between the Autobots and a race of metallic beings who emerge in spaceships from the surface of the moon and begin to invade and attack earth.

Finally, we see more new robots, spaceships, action and peril as the Earth is destroyed by this encroaching battalion of iron warriors. This trailer makes this movie just look immensely larger in scale, with attacks all over the world.

This just seems like a superior film compared to the second one and the scale and action looks mind-blowing. As of now, I am officially excited to see this film and believe that taking the basic storyline back to human survival was the right move.

So what do you think? What part if any had you say “wow”? Leave a comment and let your opinion be heard.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” crash lands in theaters and IMAX 3D July 1 and is rated PG-13.

The new female lead’s single plastic expression already has me feeling nostalgic for Megan Fox. This trailer looks fine, but the first two movies were utter crap so I have little interest in part 3.
