For a movie starring Jeff Daniels, Lisa Kudrow, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone, “Paper Man” has decidedly flown under the radar.
The movie debuted at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival and subsequently was picked up by MPI for North American distribution.
The official synopsis: A once-successful novelist, constantly attended by the imaginary superhero who has been his pal since he was a kid, struggles to recover what made him great while watching his marriage fail. He derives some inspiration from his platonic friendship with a Cape Cod high-school girl.
Notably, “Paper Man” features Ryan Reynolds as a costumed superhero (named “Captain Excellent” and not “Paper Man,” in case you were wondering). Playing comic book characters is becoming a specialty for the comedic actor as he also has played Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” Hannibal King in “Blade: Trinity” and the title role in the currently-filming “Green Lantern.”
Written and directed by Michele and Kieran Mulroney (of the ill-fated “Justice League: Mortal”), the movie is due to be released April 23. “Paper Man” also will be the opening night film at the Florida Film Festival April 9.

Looks strange. I’ll see it.

At one point, Paul Giamatti was slated to play the lead role. That would have interested me more. I’ll probably still check it out if it makes it up my way.
How many Superheros will Ryan Reynolds play? Holy ……… not complaining too much though he did look yum in the suit! tee hee yeah! Canada!!! I want to see it though….. Jeff Daniels is an interesting actor really liked him in “Pleasantville” …. I’ll give it a gander!
The costume convinced me, I have to see this movie. 😛
Love it! Big fan of Ryan Reynolds so looking forward to it!
