Mel Gibson stars as Thomas Craven in this very emotionally-charged thriller. Gibson hasn’t starred in much lately, but this film shows he hasn’t lost his edge, no pun intended. This film will hopefully bring Gibson back into acting with a role that just may help him receive an award. “Edge of Darkness” shows great potential and after watching these clips I have no doubt that I will be catching this one.
This film is set at the intersection of politics and big business. Thomas Craven is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, 24-year-old Emma (Bojana Novakovic), is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes he was the target. This is where the little twist kicks in as his daughter was the real target and he soon sets out on a mission to find out about his daughter’s secret life and her killing.
His investigation leads him into a dangerous, looking glass world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion and murder – and to shadowy government operative Darius Jedburgh (Ray Winstone), who has been sent in to clean up the evidence. Craven’s solitary search for answers about his daughter’s death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption.
The clips are mostly of the talking variety and also showcase some of the other great actors (Ray Winstone and Danny Huston). If you are looking for a few good clips I would recommend watching the clips titled “nothing to lose” or “get out of the car” they show some fun action along with good acting.
This film is a GK Films Production based on the BAFTA Award-winning BBC miniseries of the same name and, with Martin Cambell as the director (he also directed “Casino Royale”), it should prove to be a fantastic thriller that will get your heart racing.
“Edge of Darkness” will be in theaters Jan. 29.
