Trailer Talk: ‘Princess of Mars’

This film is based on the novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs and is a pretty weird sci-fi flick. Antonio Sabato Jr. plays the role of John Carter, a U.S. soldier who became transported to Mars where a war wages between two alien races.

James Cameron, the man behind “Avatar,” has cited Burroughs as an influence and the trailer boasts that the movie is the inspiration for James Cameron’s “Avatar.” Seriously, who in their right mind would even compare this movie to “Avatar?”

Watching this trailer, you will see some weird images and some awful acting, but I guess that’s the fun of watching a low-budget sci-fi film.

Mark Atkins is the writer-director for “Princess of Mars” and hey, if “Avatar” turns out bad, at least we have this to look forward to. Some of the others actors are Traci Lords, Matt Lasky, Chacko Vadaketh, Mitchell Gordon, Noelle Perris, Matt Lagan, Tomas Boykin and Kimberly Ables Jindra.

On Dec. 29, you will have the chance to own this “awesome” movie on DVD.

Yep, another sad attempt to leech off the anticipation of an upcoming big release. I’m sure that Andrew Stanton’s “John Carter of Mars” will be awesome. This sorry effort? Not a flippin’ chance.
