Trailer Talk: ‘Disney’s A Christmas Carol’

— by JON MARTINCIC —

Robert Zemeckis is doing “A Christmas Carol.” Need I say more? It’s an animated version of the Charles Dickens classic tale and from the looks of the trailer, it’s done very well.

Zemeckis — whose resume includes the “Back to the Future” trilogy, “Forrest Gump” and “Cast Away” — is listed as the writer, director and a producer on this project.

He will be joined by fellow cinema legend, Jim Carrey, who is doing the voice acting for Ebenezer Scrooge and the three ghosts. Other notable cast members include Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Michael J. Fox.

The trailer alone makes this look like a fun movie for the family. The animation looks really good, as well as the character acting. The classic Jim Carrey humor has been hit or miss for audiences, so it’ll be interesting to see how well it works out.

“A Christmas Carol” is slated for a Nov. 6 release.

I am undecided on this movie. I’m a big Carrey fan, but it just seems like this story has been done to death.

    That picture is pretty sweet.

I agree, it seems every couple of years there is yet another version of this story. I can’t help but wonder what will make this one new to the viewer.

I can’t see myself paying the money to see this at the theater.
