I’m of two minds about “When in Rome.”
On the one hand, it looks like it has every chance of being terrible. I mean, let’s be honest, the only thing keeping this from being a Lifetime movie is the star power involved.
On the other hand, it looks like the kind of harmless fluff that you put on one Saturday afternoon while cleaning the house and you actually start watching it. Maybe you even enjoy it a little.
To be honest, the narration throughout the trailer by Kristen Bell is distracting. However, I’m sure that *spoiler alert* she and Josh Duhamel will be a very happy, cute couple by the end of the movie.
What I found particularly odd is the supporting cast: Will Arnett, Danny DeVito, Jon Heder, Anjelica Huston, Dax Shepard, Lee Pace and Don Johnson. It seems a little too strong for such a lightweight comedy.
Oh, well. They will make for good company, I suppose, some day in the far off future when what I should really be doing is painting the garage.
“When in Rome” is due to be released Jan. 29, 2010.

The v/o reminds me of Gossip Girl.
The release date says a lot.
Looks mildly diverting.
I’d go to Rome for either Bell or Duhamel.
