Seven Clips from ‘When in Rome’

— by ALEXA MILAN —

As the last of the Oscar hopefuls find their way to theaters, audiences can expect to see more lighthearted, escapist fare crowding the multiplexes in January. One such film is “When in Rome,” Kristen Bell’s latest romantic comedy.

Bell plays Beth, an unlucky-in-love New Yorker who travels to Italy for her sister’s wedding. After discovering her ex-boyfriend is engaged and making a fool of herself at the reception, Beth impulsively steals several coins from a supposed fountain of love.

Soon after, she finds herself being pursued by an eclectic band of suitors (Will Arnett, Danny DeVito, Jon Heder, Dax Shepard). But when her dream guy, Nick (Josh Duhamel), shows interest in her, she is unsure whether he really loves her or he’s only interested because she stole his coin from the fountain.

In the first clip from the film, Beth tries to shatter a vase at the wedding reception to symbolize good luck for the bride and groom, but she fails miserably. During the clip, Bell and Duhamel offer commentary about filming the scene.
