Ridley Scott has directed films such as “The Duelists,” “American Gangster” and “Black Hawk Down,” but his newest motion picture is a “Robin Hood” adventure.
Oscar-winning Russell Crowe stars as the renowned hero, in his fifth collaboration with Ridley. Other cast members include Cate Blanchett, William Hurt, Mark Strong, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Scott Grimes, Steve Seiter Jr., Alan Doyle and Matthew MacFadyen.
Here is the movie’s plot: It is late 12th century England and Sir Robin Hood of Locksley (Crowe) has returned to his village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arriving, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression that has been caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Macfadyen). Sir Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his village of tyranny and take back what is rightfully his. Robin also must win the affection of the recently widowed Lady Marian (Blanchett) while leading his Merry Men of Sherwood Forest to victory.
Crowe is one of Hollywood’s top actors and I have no doubt that his capable hands will make “Robin Hood” a treat.
“Robin Hood” (formerly known as “Nottingham”) is scheduled to be released on May 14, 2010.

I have a tough time seeing Crowe as Robin Hood. He would be fantastic as the Sheriff of Nottingham, though.
Russell Crowe’s a chameleon as an actor. I’m confident he’ll pull off Robin Hood just as brilliantly as he has all his other roles.
I think Crowe and Blanchett are too old for these characters. I LOVE the legend of Robin and will probably see this movie but I’m not really excited.
Looking forward to this.
I love all things Robin Hood, so I know I’ll go to see this. Russell Crowe doesn’t seem like the right casting to me (nor do the rest) but hopefully this will end up being a good movie.
Do we really need another one?
