A Pair of Scenes from ‘Legion’

— by ALEXA MILAN —

The apocalypse became a hot topic in Hollywood at the end of 2009 with “The Road” and “2012.” The trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere in 2010 with the arrival of “Legion,” an apocalyptic thriller of more biblical proportions.

When God loses faith in humanity and decides to end their existence, he sends his legion of angels, led by Gabriel (Kevin Durand), to destroy them. But the archangel Michael (Paul Bettany), determined to save humanity, vows to protect a diner waitress (Adrianne Palicki) whose unborn child he believes is the savior. The diner becomes an unlikely battleground as its patrons and employees defend the human race.

The film also stars Dennis Quaid, Kate Walsh, Tyrese Gibson, Lucas Black, Charles S. Dutton and Doug Jones.

“Legion” looks like an interesting film to say the least, though it is bound to spark controversy with its depiction of God as the villain.

“Legion” hits theaters Jan. 22.

In the clips below, Michael fights Gabriel and Gibson’s Kyle attempts to save a child.
