Angelina Jolie is Ready for More ‘Salt’

— by SHERICE ANTOINETTE —

A “Salt” sequel is in the works and Kurt Wimmer (“Salt,” “Total Recall”) is writing the script.

“Salt” — which grossed roughly $300 million worldwide — starred action heroine Angelina Jolie as a Russian spy named Evelyn Salt. Although the film itself was average, Jolie was damn good in it. Of course, action films are Jolie’s forte and it appears audiences prefer watching her kick ass than sobbing on cue. The proof is in the receipts. “Wanted” took in $343 million worldwide, whereas Clint Eastwood’s Oscar-nominated film, “Changeling,” made $113 million.

Speaking of “Wanted,” plans for a second installment are still in limbo. (http://itsjustmovies.com/16524) Universal wants Jolie back, but she won’t commit. This isn’t surprising since her character, Fox, made a heroic exit.

I think another “Salt” film could be a good thing. However, I wasn’t fond of the writing. Hopefully, Wimmer will do a better job with the screenplay this go-round. As for director, Sony should sign Paul Greengrass of the “Bourne” franchise.

So, are you in for another “Salt”? What do you think of this news?
