First Footage of ‘Captain America’ in Action Surfaces

— by ALEXA MILAN —

Marvel’s choice for the actor that would bring Captain America to the big screen was probably one of the more drawn-out casting decisions in recent history. Chris Evans finally landed the role, and thanks to the hand-held camcorder, we’ve got our first glimpse of Evans filming in Manchester.

Evans plays World War II soldier Steve Rogers, who volunteers for a research project after he is deemed unfit for service that ultimately turns him into Captain America, the first Avenger.

I think Evans has the perfect look for the all-American hero, and he’s proved that he has acting chops in smaller films like Danny Boyle’s “Sunshine.” A few on-set photos of Evans as Rogers and Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter were also recently leaked, so I’m excited to see this brief bit of video footage

“Captain America: The First Avenger” soars to the big screen July 22, 2011.

What do you think? Was Evans the right choice to fill Captain America’s shoes? Do this video clip and the recent photos satisfy your curiosity for the time being? Sound off in the comments section.
