Five Minutes From ‘Merry Madagascar’


I realize that everyone wasn’t in the same boat, but I really enjoyed the first “Madagascar” movie.

I thought it was funny, charming and well cast (Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter and Sacha Baron Cohen were all good in it). And I thought the Penguins were especially entertaining.

I thought the sequel was less of the same. It had its moments, and overall I was glad they made it, but the scenes involving the old woman and her tour bus were terrible.

In between the movies, in 2005, we had “The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper” which is simply 11 minutes well spent during the holiday season.

And now, we have a holiday special, “Merry Madagascar,” that features the main characters. It debuted Nov. 17 on NBC and currently is available on DVD.
