I always wonder how a real lawyer’s life compares to that of their on-screen countertops. Are their jobs really that dangerous? Are their jobs really that sexy?
The first three clips below for “The Lincoln Lawyer” certainly have the danger and the sexiness that we’ve come to relate the procedural drama genre with. From having a client threaten him to hooking up with his ex-wife, Matthew McConaughey’s Matthew is a busy lawyer. A heads up, I”m pretty sure the third clip is spoilerish for the overall plot, so you’ve been cautioned.
The final clip is what really wins me over. While working as a lawyer in your Lincoln (hence the film’s name) may not be overly realistic, the emotion behind the conversation with his daughter and eventually his ex-wife is. Even though dangerous and sexy is entertaining, it does not make a movie lasting.
If “The Lincoln Lawyer” can keep up an emotional core shown in the final clip throughout the film, then I believe that the film could be more than just a popcorn film.
“The Lincoln Lawyer” will hit theatres March 18 and stars Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe, William H. Macy and John Leguizamo.
