Trailer Talk: ‘Killers’

— by ALEXA MILAN —

Romantic comedy mainstays Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher will add another one to their resumes with “Killers,” a rom-com with an action twist.

Directed by Robert Luketic (of “Legally Blonde” and “The Ugly Truth”), the film follows newlyweds Jen and Spencer, who married quickly after meeting and falling in love on vacation. But when they return home, they discover their neighbors might be assassins who are out to kill them.

Luketic told Entertainment Weekly: “We didn’t really test that there was going to be chemistry between Ashton [Kutcher] and Katherine [Heigl]. We just relied on the fact that we had two such likable personalities. You look at them on the screen and you just smile. It turned out they had a lot of chemistry. In fact, they had too much chemistry sometimes [laughs].”

Heigl and Kutcher are both hit or miss for me depending on their roles, but I can see why they would be appealing choices for this type of film. The trailer should indicate whether this action rom-com will be funny and entertaining or fall flat, but the plot sounds a bit generic.

Also starring Tom Selleck, “Killers” hits theaters June 4.

Blech. I must be in the minority, but I don’t need to see Kutcher in anything, he seems so bland to me. Heigl I want to like, but what’s she really done that’s interesting because of what SHE brings? “27 Dresses” ? “The Ugly Truth” ? “Knocked Up” is good, and she is good IN it, but this movie sounds immediately forgettable.

Heigl is cute, but I don’t find her all that likeable.

I like them both so I’ll probably see it. I liked her on “Grays.” Anyone know if she is coming back?

I’ll see it though …. Kutcher kept me interested after Butterfly effect and Personal Effects I think there’s more to him … not sure if he realizes that, but hey!
