John Kastner’s “Life with Murder” is the winner of the 2011 International Emmy Award for best documentary.
Produced by JS Kastner Productions in co-production with the National Film Board of Canada, in association with CTV, “Life with Murder” is a stunning portrait of an Ontario couple’s painful struggle to accept their son back into the family after he is convicted of murdering his sister.
“Life with Murder” was the only Canadian program nominated for the 39th International Emmy Awards, which were presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in New York City.
The Emmy win for “Life with Murder” is the latest honour for this acclaimed feature doc, which also received the Donald Brittain Award for Best Social/Political Documentary Program from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television at the 2011 Gemini Awards and a Special Jury Award from the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
The Toronto-based Kastner has now won four Emmys ― more than any other individual in the history of Canadian television ― with International Emmy Awards for his documentaries “Four Women” and “Fighting Back,” as well as a News & Documentary Emmy Award for “The Lifer and the Lady.”
