Mark Strong Confirmed as Sinestro in ‘Green Lantern’

— by BEN FOWLER —

Comic-book uber genius and all round good guy Geoff Johns has posted a tantalising report from the New Orleans based set of Green Lantern. On Johns’ own Twitter feed today, the writer posted “Back from an amazing trip to Green Lantern town a.k.a. New Orleans!! Ryan (Reynolds) IS Hal. And Mark Strong is going to be a brilliant Sinestro.”

A few minutes later he followed it up with another tweet saying “Kilowog, the Guardians, Oa…all breathtaking. The age of Green Lantern is upon us!!”

Johns himself is a fully paid up Green Lantern geek after writing the highly successful Blackest Night series, so he knows how to geek out his fellow nerds. And personally it did it for me. Interestingly these tweets appear to be the first time Mark Strong has been confirmed as playing Hal Jordan’s mentor and eventual nemesis, Sinestro.

If Geoff Johns has seen the production and is a happy man, the rest of the GL geek community can sleep well tonight.

As a bonus, here’s a fun fan-made trailer for “Green Lantern” for you to check out (keep in mind that it was created before any casting was announced for the movie):

The telltale sign of the quality of the film will be when the first official pic of Reynolds as GL is released.

Yea i hope they have a great looking costume. I dont want to see a screw up in costume like Superman returns suit was. That was terrible. I hope we see good work like the spider-man movie costumes have been.

He’s an excellent choice. His voice is amazing. I wonder if he will do the voice in his own accent or if he will do another. I hope he uses his natural voice.
