It was announced a couple of weeks ago that Warner Bros./DC Universe’s next animated movie after “Batman Year One” would be “Justice League: Doom,” which is based on a JLA comic called “JLA: Tower of Babel.” Not only should you be excited about the storyline the movie will have (which is probably the biggest one they have done so far for the animated JLA films), the cast should have you ready to watch this film as soon as possible.
TV Guide has announced the cast and if you grew up watching shows like “Justice League Unlimited,” then these names should ring a bell in your heads:
Tim Daly — Superman
Kevin Conroy — Batman
Susan Eisenberg — Wonder Woman
Nathan Fillion — Green Lantern
Michael Rosenbaum — The Flash
Carl Lumbly — Martian Manhunter
Bumper Robinson — Cyborg
Now that’s incredible. Two that I’m in particularly happy about are Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor in “Smallville”) as the fastest man alive and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern (who portrayed this role earlier this year in “Green Lantern: Emerald Knights”). Fillion was amazing as the voice of Green Lantern, so it’s great that he gets to portray that role again and I don’t think I need to say what I think of Rosenbaum – the true voice of Flash has returned.
If you aren’t familiar with the storyline of “JLA Tower of Babel” – here’s a short summary from TV Guide:
- Batman’s secret contingency plans to defeat his own teammates (should any of them go rogue) are stolen and put into action by a group of super villains.
If you haven’t read it yet, it’s definitely worth a read. You can pick it up at Amazon (there’s a link below), but only five were left in stock as I wrote this.
So we have an epic story with an epic cast of some of my favorite voice actors – I couldn’t ask for more. The movie was adapted and written by Dwayne McDuffie, who sadly passed away earlier this year. This was the last thing he wrote and all I can say is, may his soul rest in peace.
There will be a trailer released at New York Comic Con on Oct. 14 and if you are getting “Batman: Year One,” which will be released on DVD Oct. 18, then you will be able to catch the trailer there as well.
Stay tuned for more information about “Justice League: Doom,” which has no release date yet but is expected to be out in early 2012.
