SNL Parodies ‘Unstoppable’

— by SEAN GERSKI —

I know it has been fashionable for years and years to say that “Saturday Night Live” isn’t as funny as it used to be. But if you have watched in the past three years, and particularly this year, you will realize it isn’t a cliche. It’s very, very true.

“Saturday Night Live’s” saving grace has always been its water cooler moments. The few sketches that were great were the ones you remembered and they elevated the show overall in your memory.

Unfortunately, great sketches have been few and far between lately. And those that are really memorable have been taped in advance — which doesn’t seem to fit with the whole “Live” concept.

In any case, check out the following parody of “Unstoppable.” It’s the water cooler moment of this year so far. And if you haven’t seen it yet, you can admire the best part of this season on SNL: Jay Pharoah’s killer impression of Denzel Washington.

Chugga-chugga-choo-choo.

Jay Pharoah is saving the show. I loved his Will Smith impersonation.
