Trailer Talk: ‘11-11-11’

— by ADAM POYNTER —

There are so many people that try to find meaning to significant events in their lives, some use religion, while others use different measures to gain insight into the tragedies or victories of life.

In the new horror thriller film “11-11-11” by director Darren Lynn Bousman (“Saw II”), there is an 11:11 movement is centered on the emergence of that number in people’s lives that alerts them to angels or spirit guardians trying to communicate with them. Conspiracy theorists also point to the number 11’s involvement in historical events.

“11-11-11” will take on the idea of 11 gates of Heaven and how on 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the 11th gate will open up and something from another world will enter the earthly realm. A mysterious theory of numerology assures that the number 11 is a warning from celestial entities who throughout history have tried to communicate with humans. A gripping story full of tension and psychological terror centered in the lives of three people affected by this strange and terrifying event encompassing the globe.

After the death of his wife and child, author Joseph Crone (Timothy Gibbs) leaves the United States and travel’s to Barcelona, Spain to reunite with his brother Samuel (Michael Landes) and his sickly father Richard (Denis Rafter). However, fate has different plans for him when strange and mysterious events begin to happen to him, and around each one he sees the number 11.

First a sensible curiosity drives him to dig deeper into the numbers, but this search for answers quickly turns into an obsession as he discovers the horror that this number signifies and the revelation this could prove to all religions. Isolated and scared in a foreign country, Joseph with his companion Sadie (Wendy Glenn) comes to believe that 11-11-11 isn’t just a number, but a warning.

There is a lot going on in this short teaser trailer, most of it revolves around religion and demons, Joseph’s brother appear to be a priest and it looks like Joseph is either agnostic or an atheist who comes to the realization that these beings are real and he can’t avoid them. I am not sure why the entire plot seems to revolve around him, but Joseph seems to be in the middle of what could be an apocalyptic event that could destroy the world. The look of the film, visuals and effects all seem to be good for a somewhat smaller budget film and I think I might enjoy it.
