Trailer Talk: ‘Horrible Bosses’

— by ADAM POYNTER —

On a night out, three friends — Nick Hendricks (Jason Bateman), Dale Arbus (Charlie Day) and Kurt Buckman (Jason Sudeikis) — realize that their lives will never get any better if they continue to work fervently under their mean, duplicitous and underhanded bosses (Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey). The guys get drunk and come up with a solution, they must rid themselves of their “Horrible Bosses” once and for all.

After receiving advice from an industrious ex-con (Jamie Foxx), the three fed up men decide to formulate a plan to take action against the bosses one by one. As is the case in any scenario, the plan and its success is only as strong as the minds behind it.

As any fan of comedies or movies in general know, this cast is made up of hilarious heavyweights and the thought of them all being together and working off each other’s personal comedic style is enough to make one giddy with anticipation. Each has a particular style of comedy that is going to mesh very well with the content of this movie.

I have to say that I have probably watched this trailer about 20 times now and I still crack-up at certain jokes, mannerisms and the dry humor. Charlie Day’s dumber-than-mud actions and Colin Farrell’s quips about who to fire and how he describes them have me cracking up laughing every time.

Because it is a subject that everyone can relate to, “Horrible Bosses” is likely to do pretty well when it is released later this summer. The cast list doesn’t hurt its chances either of earning big box office bucks. What might have a small effect on its success is the fact that “The Hangover Part 2” could still be in theaters if it does well when it is released May 26.

Although there are many huge blockbusters opening this summer, “Bridemaids” is proving that comedies can bring in droves of fans looking for a laugh. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you think murder can be funny.

“Horrible Bosses” will be in theaters July 8.

I hope Charlie Day continues to do more movies. He’s definitely proven to be a scene stealer.
