Trailer: Kung Fu Panda 2

— by ADAM POYNTER —

In case you couldn’t get enough of the 2008 hit “Kung Fu Panda,” then I am sure you will be happy to know that the sequel “Kung Fu Panda 2” is right around the corner. I am glad to announce that the entire original cast, plus many more talented actors, will be gracing the screens in animated form this coming May.

In the first film, Po (Jack Black) had to learn how to harness the power within and become the chosen dragon warrior. In this full-length trailer, we see all the main characters return plus a flurry of new ones to help with the story’s progression. Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Crane (David Cross), Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Mantis (Seth Rogen) have to join forces with legendary kung fu masters — Thundering Rhino (Victor Garber), Soothsayer (Michelle Yeoh) and Croc (Jean-Claude Van Damme) — in order to try to defeat the evil Shen (Gary Oldman), who plans on using an ultimate weapon so mighty that it can rid the world of kung fu.

Taking into account the aspects that made the “Kung Fu Panda” so widely popular, we see the same comedy and action in this trailer, along with an upbeat Black Eyed Peas song and we have a fun trailer that is sure to ignite the fury in the hearts of the fans everywhere.

One thing I find funny is that this film’s title has already changed two or three times — I’m not sure why they keep changing it around, maybe they thought it just gave too much away. In the end, they have decided on a very basic, and kind of boring, “Kung Fu Panda 2” as the title.

So what do you think? Were you a fan of the first film and do you plan on seeing this sequel based off this trailer? Leave me a comment and let me know.

“Kung Fu Panda 2” open in theaters and IMAX in 2D and 3D May 26.
