Trailer Talk: ‘The Back-Up Plan’

— by ALEXA MILAN —

Jennifer Lopez’s last major movie role was in 2005’s “Monster-in-Law,” and unfortunately her latest romantic comedy venture doesn’t look much more promising.

In “The Back-Up Plan,” Lopez plays Zoe, a woman who is tired of waiting for Mr. Right and decides to become a mother on her own. But the same day she is artificially inseminated, Zoe meets Stan (Alex O’Loughlin), a man who could potentially be the one.

After a few perfect weeks of dating, Zoe discovers the artificial insemination was successful and she’s now expecting a child. When Stan finds out the woman of his dreams is pregnant, will he stand by her or move on to someone less complicated?

The plot looks cheesy and predictable, and the laughs in the trailer are few and far between. It might make a good rental if you’ve got the desire to watch something light and cute on a relaxing night in, but if you want a more original and entertaining (albeit raunchier) pregnancy-leads-to-love comedy, I’d suggest checking out the hilarious “Knocked Up” instead.

“The Back-Up Plan’s” theatrical due date is April 16.

She is just one of those actresses that can’t really portray a person you can care about. I’ll pass.

^ I agree. She is definitely beautiful, though. That is a fantastic picture of her.
