Trailer Talk: ‘The Losers’

— by JOSUE SANCHEZ —

This seems to be year for team movies. They are all spaced out throughout the year, but they are there — “The A-Team,” “The Losers,” “The Expendables,” “Red Dawn” and don’t tell me “Shrek Forever After” and “Toy Story 3” aren’t team movies. Perhaps they continue to make these, because we continue to watch them. For myself, I will probably be watching all of the titles I mentioned above.

The trailer below is for the “The Losers,” another “buddy” team movie that is based on a comic book series by the same name. By looks of the trailer, it has an “A-Team” meets “Ocean’s Eleven” feel to it. It stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana (who is in my opinion, on top of the world right now) and Chris Evans.

It must be fun to film team movies, and it is possible this is why some actors enjoy it and keep returning for the sequels. For example, I can’t help but believe that everyone involved in the making, filming and acting of “Ocean’s Eleven” must of had a hilarious time. Could that new movie “Valentine’s Day” with all those amazing actors be any different? I could be wrong, but it just seems that way to me. Now, although “The Losers” isn’t’t the all-star-casted movie that those mentioned above are, I still get the feeling that this bunch had a good time.

Let’s start with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He is definitely into the team movies. He just did “Watchman,” the team/anti-team movie, and suddenly he jumps on “The Losers.” And later, he will finish the year off with “Red Dawn.” Next, we have “good-luck-charm” Zoe Saldana. She is only in some of the greatest franchises of the decade: “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Star Trek” and “Avatar.” Those sound like team movies to me, and they will be followed by “The Losers” and “Takers.” Finally, let’s mention Chris Evans. He has consecutively done team movies, i.e. “Fantastic Four” and its sequel, “Push” and next, “The Losers.”

The official plot description tells us that “The Losers centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.”

The trailer is action packed and funny, and I especially loved the scene where Chris Evans finger shoots various guys successfully. I believe this movie is worth a shot.

“The Losers” will be released on April 9.

Great job on the article, Josue. Anything with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in it must be great. I totally agree w/ Zoe Saldana that she has been on role lately w/ her movies. One additional actor that I will like to mention is Idris Elba. From the trailer, he looks great in this movie and if you don’t know who he is, just watch “The Wire” and his performance on that show will tell you how great of an actor he is. This movie looks worth watching from the action to actors/actresses in it by watching the trailer. Can’t wait when it comes out in theatres. =)
