Trailer Talk: ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ (Teaser Version)

— by SHERICE ANTOINETTE —

Darn you, Michael Bay! I swore to myself I wouldn’t watch another “Transformers” film because the last one was terrible. Abysmal. I wanted my $16 back (I watched it in IMAX). “Revenge of the Fallen” was so disappointing, not even the great Optimus Prime and adorable Bumble Bee could woo me back to the franchise. Now, Bay has gone and made me rethink this vow after watching the trailer for “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” Thanks to the use of actual media footage from the Apollo 11 moon landing, the trailer is very gripping. It feels real. Seal it up with a great digital soundtrack and remarkable visual effects and I’m about sold.

Interestingly enough, none of the leading actors are in the trailer. It could be Bay didn’t want mention of Megan Fox’s dismissal from the third installment to hinder positive the buzz. That’s a safe decision that wasn’t necessarily needed. The “Transformers” films were never really about Shia or Megan. They were about the ongoing war between the Decepticons and the Autobots. The humans just got in the way.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” kicks off the Fourth of July weekend when it opens July 1, 2011. Something tells me it will be another blockbuster.

I agree that Transformers 2 was dissapointing, but I believe Michael Bay took all of the fans gripes into consideration (hence firing Megan Fox) and focusing more on the story then just flashy effects. I am also excited for this third movie as well.
