Two Clips from ‘Faster’

— by JOSUE SANCHEZ —

I am really excited about these two clips we have attached below for the movie “Faster.” If you haven’t heard about it yet, it stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and it marks his return to the action genre (unless you count his hilarious cameo in “The Other Guys”), and this time he wants revenge.

Here is the description we get at the official movie site: After 10 years in prison, Driver (Dwayne Johnson) has a singular focus — to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he’s finally on his mission … but with two men on his trail — a veteran cop (Billy Bob Thornton) just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) with a flair for the art of killing and a newly-found worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. It’s a do or die race to the list’s finish as the mystery surrounding his brother’s murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver’s list may be incomplete.

The Rock and his charisma are key ingredients to the movies he plays in. But when he does action movies, he then becomes an asset to the film, because he enriches it with a comedic, yet sincere, touch that makes him enjoyable to watch and repeated viewings possible. To add to the good news, this movie still has other actors I love as well, such as Carla Gugino, Tom Berenger and Maggie Grace, to name a few. Oh, and I can’t forget a current rising star and beautiful actress Moon Bloodgood.

One thing that got my attention is the characters names in this movie. For example – The Rock’s character is called “Driver,” Oliver Jackson-Cohen is “Killer” and Billie Bob’s is called “Cop.” Not the most unique thing in the world, but pretty cool nonetheless.

In the first clip below, we to see what seems to be Driver and his friends fleeing after the heist on that fateful day his brother died. Or, I could be wrong and it’s an awesome car chase scene that occurs later on in the film after his release. But, if you watch the trailer for the movie, you will see he is very angry and vengeful once he is out of prison — which is why I believe this scene is early on in the movie or is a flashback Driver has at some point. It is a cool chase with great stunt driving. We definitely get to see why the he is the “Driver,” and why the movie’s name is “Faster.” Though his swiftness in the car is not to what the tile is limited to.

In the second clip, we see “Cop” and Carla Gugino’s character, Cicero, combing through the aftermath of the crime scene that Driver left behind. He is obviously catching up to his wrongdoers and avenging his brother and himself.

Watch these clips and stoke yourself up for a “Faster” ride on Nov. 24.
