For those “Twilight” fans who just can’t wait until the June release of “Eclipse” for some more Robert Pattinson, look no further than “Remember Me,” another Pattinson-starring production from “Twilight” studio Summit Entertainment.
Pattinson plays Tyler, a rebellious New York college student who is unexpectedly drawn to the free-spirited Ally (Emilie de Ravin) after being arrested by her father (Chris Cooper). Tyler has a strained relationship with his own father (Pierce Brosnan) following a family tragedy, and he feels as though he’s lost his way in life.
He embarks on a relationship with Ally and begins to find himself as he falls in love with her. He finally feels as though he can live life to the fullest, but Tyler and Ally’s happiness can’t last forever as secrets are revealed that could tear them apart.
Though “Remember Me” may be dubbed by “Twilight” haters as just another chance for Pattinson to brood, I think this actually looks like a decent movie. I’m interested to see what he can do with a role in which he’s not a vampire or a wizard but just a normal guy, especially alongside the likes of Cooper, who has never disappointed me.
“Remember Me” opens March 12.
