Wreckage Photos from the ‘Man of Steel’ Set

— by JOSUE SANCHEZ —

I am a fan of most Superman incarnations, from the comics and animated TV shows, to the movies and the long-running “Smallville” series. So it is without question that I am excited about the upcoming Superman movie, “Man of Steel.”

In the past, we would never hear or see anything at this early stage of a production, but nowadays, the exciting behind-the-scenes goodness has already started to pour in.

In this last weeks, we have been getting photos from the set at Plano, Ill., which is filling in as the fictitious town of Smallville. What are we finding in these photos? Destruction! It appears some building tops are torn apart, and some crushed cars and trucks (below).

Now, the key question most fans have about the photos are whether these wrecked building and vehicles are the cause of Superman battling the villain of the movie, or are a flashback scene of meteor shower from the day young Kal-El/Superman arrived on Earth. Or could they have been caused by the forces of nature, like a twister, etc?

These are fair concerns, for the fans are hoping to finally see Superman actually battle a super-powered opponent after “Superman Returns,” where most of his challenges where internal.

Seeing these pictures (via Superman Homepage) actually brings fans hopes up about actually getting an action-packed super battle, and I guess time will tell.

“Man of Steel” is being directed by Zack Snyder (“300,” “‘Watchmen” and “Sucker Punch”). No release date for “Man of Steel” is officially set yet, but we do know it is being primed for a December 2012 release.

So what do you think about the pics?

Will say that the photos are “interesting” to say the least. I can’t wait to see more set photos like shots of Daily Planet and of course the cast. It’s also interesting that a possible “set date” for this film to be release is in December 2012 instead of it being release in the summer. Guess they don’t want to compete with The Dark Knight Rises next summer and I don’t blame them. =)

Based off the hole in the truck I would say either meteorite impact or Superman being thrown through the car.
