2011 BAFTA Winners Announced

— by KATHLEEN COLLINS —

The winners of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (better known as the BAFTAs) were announced tonight.

None of the winners seem all that shocking, but it is somewhat noteworthy that “The King’s Speech” took home the award for Best Film, while David Fincher won Best Director for “The Social Network.” Each movie won a prize for its screenplay, but it’s hard to see how the movie with the best director and a best screenplay win isn’t the best film. “The King’s Speech” did take home three of four acting award, though, so I guess the acting out-weighed the directing on this one.
