A Clip from ‘High School’

— by AMANDA KOEHLER —

In a world of stoner flicks (“Dazed and Confused,” “Pineapple Express,” “Half Baked”), “High School” will have to do a lot to stand on its own — and it may not be able to, if this clip is any indication.

In “High School,” Henry (Matt Bush), the class valedictorian, hooks up with an old friend Travis (Sean Marquette) who is a big-time stoner. After Travis gets Henry to smoke with him, Henry ends up having to take a drug test. He somehow decides to devise a plan where the entire graduating class would also get positive drug test results. “The Shield’s” Michael Chiklis plays the principal, and Adrien Brody plays “Psycho Ed.” Whoever that is.

In this clip, Henry and Travis start going through pictures from when they were young. Travis thinks it’s the perfect time to light up a doobie. Henry gets all uncomfortable and tells Travis he’s never smoked pot; Travis, on the other hand, actually has a prescription for it. Travis gives a long speech about how amazing marijuana is, including telling Henry in a bad Jamaican accent to “be somebody” and just smoke it already. Henry gives in and lights up.

This clip doesnt really tell alot about this movie, but I do think it speaks volumes for our nation in the fact that everybody now can go get a “marijuana perscription”, I have heard of people who go to their doctors and say “That they cant sleep” and they are given a marijuana card. Personally I dont do drugs and even after I was diagnosed with cancer everyone was telling me that it might help with chemo, but I chose not even to look into it because I didnt feel like I needed it.
