Best known for her role on the hit television series “Felicity,” Keri Russell is not only once again returning to the small screen in the upcoming 2013 TV show, “The Americans,” but also will be starring in the science fiction horror film “Dark Skies” from the producers of “Paranormal Activity” and “Insidious.”
Lacy (Russell) and Daniel Barrett (Josh Hamilton) live in the suburbs. Everything seems to be normal, until one day strange things begin happening in the Barrett household. The unexplained occurrences target their children Sammy and Daniel at first, but soon spread to them as well and everything that surrounds them. Lacy does some research on her own to find answers that others have not been able to give her and stumbles upon a man who is an expert on the things that they have been experiencing. As they talk to the man, they learn that whatever is plaguing them cannot be stopped.
Check out the trailer below:
We’ve seen many plots where strange things happen that can’t be somehow explained, but somehow manage to disappoint in the shock value. From this trailer, we can see alarms going off in the middle of the night, objects in a room being rearranged and no one can explain how it happened and even the possession of human bodies.
Initially, I thought maybe this was a demonic possession type of film, but the plot (and title) points to aliens. I don’t quite see where the aliens will come in, but they do hint at it throughout the trailer.
“Dark Skies” was written and directed by Scott Stewart and is due in theaters on Feb. 22.
