As a fan of both superhero movies and Ryan Reynolds, I am pretty excited about the idea of Reynolds playing the Green Lantern.

During the casting process, however, he was not someone I had considered for the role, as he had already played Hannibal King in “Blade Trinity” and Deadpool (kind of, but not really) in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

However, since landing the role, not much information has leaked about the production (and, strangely, director Martin Campbell has never publicly said anything about the project). No one else seems to have been cast yet and we haven’t heard when filming will start.

The other day, though, Reynolds appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show and revealed that he is “four to five months away from beginning shooting.”

Reynolds also revealed the reason we haven’t heard much about the project.

“It’s crazy, it’s the only job I’ve ever had that I’m not allowed to really talk about,” he said. “I think there’s like a representative from Warner Brothers who I’m sure is following me around ready to blow-dart me if I say a single word. I probably have a chip in me somewhere, like if I start talking about it, I’ll just pass away.”

For those who are unfamiliar with the Green Lantern (such as, apparently, Jimmy Fallon), Reynolds explained: “[Green Lantern] has this ring and he’s been chosen to have this power and the ring can kind of create anything that his will or his imagination can conjure up.”
