As the names of those actors up for Captain America continue to fall by the wayside — previously-reported candidates Scott Porter and Michael Cassidy have announced they did not get the gig — and as new names jump up — Dane Cook, Jonas Brothers — one name continues to remain in the center: John Krasinski.
And, if a new report from Fox411 is to be believed, Krasinski is in line for the role.
The Fox411 story states:
Insiders at the Marvel compound tell Fox 411 that he is close to landing the superhero gig of his life. John, who plays Jim on “The Office,” has appeared in front of producers repeatedly since the start of the new year and since rumors began in February.
“John has read four times and is doing screen tests,” our source tells us. “He has screen tested two times so far. It’s very likely that he will be the new Captain America. He is a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week.”
At this point, Krasinski is the main focus at Marvel.
“The big bosses are having him read with multiple actresses up for the female leads. They want to lock down the role and then they will narrow down everyone else.”
Krasinski has his detractors for the role, but more and more people seem to be coming over to his side. In any case, the idea certainly has a lot of people intrigued. Some form of “John Krasinski Captain America” is among the top Google searches on It’s Just Movies every day.
As for me, I hope he gets it. I think he could nail the role and I can easily see a day where everyone says they knew all along that he would be great in the role.

Saw the foxnews 411 article earlier today about john krasinski. Now i said it time and time again he isnt my first pick for the role. i am/was rooting for scott porter(before he no longer was an option), mike vogel, garrett helund, as for patrick and wilson didnt have any positive or negative things to say about them. But john if he is confirmed shortly will probably do the role well.
We have no clue how his tests have gone, or how he will play the character. Also no way he would play steve as how he plays jim in the office. So i think some folks just need to see him as an actor and not just his character from the office. Heck i am not even a fan of the office. Only seen a few mins here and there of the show over the years. So we should judge guys more fairly when we actually have footage of them playing the character we are talking about.
i am sure he will treat the character with the respect and honnor and all that. As for his looks as stated many times over he has a few months to bulk up/tone his body, and then cutting, styling and dying his hair he could end up looking alot different then he does now. So hopefully he will do well. I cant judge now since we dont know how he will be or look just yet.

yea probably would be best sean. since we keep getting different reports. Though i cant wait to see who is officially announced. Will it be john, will it be garrett, will it be mike, or will it be some other name we dont know.
