When it was officially announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard would join Christopher Nolan’s final chapter “The Dark Knight Rises” as Miranda Tale and John Blake — I was actually both thrilled … and disappointed.
Both of them are amazing actors and I thought that with actors as big as they are, Nolan would do more with them than just giving them roles like those. But could there be more than meets the eye? Cotillard spoke recently with The Los Angeles Times about her character and this is what she said:
My role is a secret, as is the whole project.
I actually feel silly to be honest for my earlier disappointment — this is Christopher Nolan we’re talking about, the most secretive film-maker there is.
In “Batman Begins,” Ra’s al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson) was actually under the name Henri Ducard for the bigger part of the movie. Is it possible Cotillard’s character will do the same? She would be amazing as Talia al Ghul. And it’s possible Gordon-Levitt’s role could be subject to a switch, too, because it’s difficult to believe Nolan would give these two amazing actors such small roles? Hopefully, more will be revealed the coming months.
“The Dark Knight Rises” hits theaters on July 20, 2012. Let us know what you think about this by hitting with your comments to the right. Do you think Miranda Tate is just be a cover name for Cotillard’s real character?
