In David Cronenberg’s upcoming futuristic drama “Cosmopolis,” based on the 2003 novel by Don DeLillo, Robert Pattinson (the “Twilight” saga) plays 28-year-old Wall Street tycoon Eric Parker as he is being transported across midtown Manhattan to get a haircut at his father’s old barber in the midst of the decline of capitalism.
Eric watches anxiously from the inside of his plush stretch limo as the yuan’s exchange rate rises and destroys his bet against it. Meanwhile, Eric comes to the realization that amongst the chaos that has broken out on the streets of New York — and numerous other obstacles on his way to get a haircut – there is a plot to assassinate him.
Below are nine clips from “Cosmopolis”:
Judging from the clips, as the description indicates, it seems that the majority of the scenes take place either inside or around the limo that transports Eric Parker through midtown Manhattan.
Since its debut at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, there have been mixed reactions to both the film and Pattinson’s performance. But you can decide for yourself when “Cosmopolis” hits U.S. theaters on Aug. 17.
The film also stars Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Mathieu Amalric, Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, K’Naan, Emily Hampshire, Samantha Morton and Paul Giamatti.
