“Invictus” is also known as “The Human Factor.” In this movie, the human factor would be Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) as this film chronicles his life through the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa when he was the president of South Africa. Matt Damon plays the role of Francois Pienaar, the South African team captain.
The story is based on the John Carlin book “Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed a Nation.” Mandela was just released from prison and hopes to bring his people together through the Rugby World Cup.
Clint Eastwood will be directing this and, hopefully, it will be even more engaging than “Gran Torino.” From the sound of the premise, it looks like it can be in line for an award, especially with the great actors in the film.
The tagline in the poster reads: “His people needed a leader, he gave them a champion.” Hopefully, the movie will deliver this message in a heartfelt manner.
Invictus will be in theaters Dec. 11.

Matt Damon just looks…off in the poster. If his name wasn’t on the top, I wouldn’t have even known it was him. Someone got a little too Photoshop-happy.
^ I almost typed something similar. It’s especially weird around his eyes.
It also looks like Freeman’s head has been detached from his body. Either way you slice it, this poster is a ridiculous-looking marketing nightmare.
Whoops. I was referring to the smaller photo.
The final poster looks like an unrecognizable Freeman has had a large depiction of a melting Matt Damon airbrushed on his jacket.
LOL! It’s like the worst jacket ever!
…and yet I would consider buying it.
