If you spend any time on message boards, you will inevitably see someone’s “fan made” movie poster. As you may imagine, some are horrible, some are decent and some are just fantastic.
Invariably, when you see a poster in that last category, someone will write something along the lines of: “You should make posters for the movie companies. Yours is better than what they put out.” And while that’s true sometimes, it often is just hyperbole. People are less critical of their fellow fans than they are of people they don’t know who are paid to make the posters.
However, the new poster for the movie “Takers” really has to make you wonder. If the movie studio asked fans to put together a poster for “Takers,” don’t you get the feeling that many, if not most, “fans” could do a better job than this?
Now, I’m no whiz with Photoshop, but I know what I like and what I don’t like. And what I don’t like is a terrible photoshop effort by a “professional.”
“Takers” (formerly known as “Bone Deep”) is scheduled to arrive in movie theaters Feb. 19, 2010. I am guessing that a new poster will arrive very quickly.
