Former 007, Timothy Dalton, will be joining the familiar gang of toys in “Toy Story 3” as newcomer Mr. Pricklepants, a hedgehog with thespian tendencies.
There is no word yet on how exactly his character will become part of the story, but perhaps the toy’s “thespian tendencies” will help explain Dalton’s British accent — if indeed it is to be featured in the movie.
Joining Dalton are: Tom Hanks as Woody; Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear; Joan Cusack as Jessie; Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head; Estelle Harris as Mrs. Potato Head; John Ratzenberger as Hamm; Wallace Shawn as Rex; and Jodi Benson as Barbie. Also new to the voice cast is former Batman, Michael Keaton, as Ken.
This time around the toys are in for new adventures when Andy, now grown up, heads off to college. His beloved toy, Woody, along with Buzz Lightyear and the other toy friends barely survive a misadventure with a garbage truck — only to end up at a day care center filled with abusive kids. Mayhem surely ensues as the toys try to escape to the safety of a caring new owner.
“Toy Story 3” will be produced by the talented folks at “Pixar Animation Studios” and this time the computer-animated story will be in 3D. Lee Unkrich has taken over as director — you might remember that he edited both the prior movies in the series and was co-director for the second.
“Toy Story 3” will arrive in theaters June 18. Check out the teaser trailer below:
