Poster Peek: ‘Tooth Fairy’

    by Sean Gerski

In the film “Funny People,” Adam Sandler plays a movie star who pretty clearly has sold out. His house is lined with posters for movies that look like lowest common denominator family comedies (think: most of Eddie Murphy’s recent work).

In the real version of The Rock’s life, the poster for “Tooth Fairy” will come to serve much the same function in the future.

Now, I know that The Rock is trying to carve out a serious movie career and he is going by the name of Dwayne Johnson, but as long as he continues to star in “toothless” comedies such as this one, I think The Rock name is appropriate.

If you think I am being hard on The Rock, check out the movie’s plot: A bad deed on the part of a tough minor-league hockey player results in an unusual sentence — he must serve one week as a real-life tooth fairy.

“Tooth Fairy” will sneak into theaters on Jan. 22, 2010

I think I may sleep though this movie or more likely skip it altogether.

I still want to see him do the Shazam movie.

I thought you wanted to be a “serious actor,” Dwayne?
