Is Logan Lerman close to locking up the part of Peter Parker in the reboot of the “Spider-Man” franchise? Depends on who you ask.
HitFix states: “A source close to the production tells HitFix Lerman is ‘almost 100% locked’ but not in contract negotiations for the role yet.”
Lerman, who recently played the lead role in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” has the right look for the role and also seems to have the backing of the fans.
However, Deadline Hollywood — a site that covers Marvel scoops as well as anyone — says they are hearing the total opposite: “insiders at Sony say that the young actor is not getting the role. In fact, these sources were very definitive in denying the story, and were sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered.”
When it comes to casting superheroes, it never seems to be straight forward anymore, does it?
In any event, Lerman seems excited to take on the role, as he relayed in the following interview from a few months back:
“There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into,” the 18-year-old Lerman said. “It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it. It’s just, you know, conversations are starting. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course. I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.”
