Samantha Barks has beaten out Taylor Swift for the upcoming movie adaptation of the “Les Misérables,” TheInsider.com is reporting.
It had been rumored for months that Swift was close to getting the part, but Banks was surprised in England after a performance of “Oliver!” — in which she currently has a role — in a surprise announcement by theatrical producer Cameron Mackintosh.
The U.K. native is an experienced stage actress and singer who has played the role of Éponine on stage for a year as well as being selected to perform in the 25th Anniversary Concert of the musical.
