It looks like the parents of Peter Parker are joining the big screen in the upcoming reboot of the “Spider-Man” series. THR is reporting Campbell Scott and Julianne Nicholson will play the parts of Richard and Mary Parker. Scott is apparently part of the cast and Nicholson is in final stages of the casting. Also, Irrfan Khan is apparently going to join the reboot as a villain named Van Atter who will join The Lizard/Dr. Curt Conners.
I’m excited that we will get to see Parker’s parents for the first time on the big screen. I think the last time I saw them in any Spidey media at all was in 1994’s “Spiderman: The Animated Series” (briefly). Likely, we either will see flashbacks to his parents or the movie will start with a young Peter Parker and his life with his parents. Anyway, I think it’s great that we will see more of his childhood before his teenage years and before he became the web slinger. The only role that I now can’t wait to see cast is J. Jonah Jameson. At that point, we basically will have a complete cast.
And speaking of the cast, Emma Stone previously was announced for the role of Gwen Stacy. Stone, who has been a redhead for a few years, initially was thought to be playing Mary Jane Watson. However, it was revealed that the natural blond would play Stacy instead. And now, we have a picture of her that is likely similar to the way she will appear in the role.
