It looks like with the impending sale of MGM Studios, and Daniel Craig’s busy shooting schedule, it looks like James Bond will not return until late 2011 or even potentially 2012. Until then, let’s take a trip down memory lane, and look at five of the best moments in the Bond franchise.
5: Skydiving Gambit from “Moonraker”
For the late 1970s, this was probably the pinnacle of opening acts for a movie. Roger Moore, Richard Kiel, and several thousand feet of air. It’s number five on this list, but it’s my favorite gambit of the franchise.
4. Parkour Chase from “Casino Royale”
Daniel Craig made a grand debut as James Bond by chasing Sebastien Foucan around a construction site and half the island of Madagascar in the most visually-stunning chase scene I’ve seen in any movie in a very long time.
3. The Lotus Submarine from “The Spy Who Loved Me”
Aside from the ubiquitous Aston Martin DB5, this has got to be the most famous car a Bond has driven ever, if for no other other reason that it’s a submarine. As an aside, it also cruises to a very nice piece of music to get your hot Russian spy partner in the mood.
2. The Laser Scene from “Goldfinger”
One of the most recognizable lines in the Bond franchise, there are many parodies of this classic exchange between James Bond (Sean Connery) and Auric Goldfinger. While the “Torchwood” variant is funny, I’m partial to the original.
1. THE Line from every Bond movie
No Bond movie can possibly be considered complete without hearing the most recognized, copied, parodied, pimped out and God knows, cheesiest line this side of “Hasta la vista, baby!” You can tell the style of the of actor just by the way he says those three magical words as seen by all six actors below.
