What do you get when you combine Hugh Grant, Sarah Jessica Parker, a Wyoming ranch and the witness protection program? Yet another predictably cheesy rom-com that will likely earn big bucks at the box office.
In “Did You Hear About the Morgans?,” Meryl (Parker) and Paul Morgan (Grant) are a Manhattan couple who are successful in everything but their marriage. But when they witness a murder on the way home from dinner one night, Meryl and Paul are forced to join the witness protection program and are relocated to a small town in Wyoming. Without the distractions of technology and big city life, their new home may be the perfect place to work out their issues.
Grant appears to be his usual charming self here, and Parker, who is hit or miss for me, will hopefully exercise her “Sex and the City” comedic chops rather than her “Failure to Launch” stiffness. The story sounds cute enough and the trailer contains some funny one-line zingers — “Oh my God, it’s Sarah Palin!” — and anyone looking for a light and fun romance will probably be satisfied with this movie.
