Trailer Talk: ‘30 Minutes or Less’

— by LYNN TACKITT —

A couple of weeks after school starts is right about the time a lot of people are looking for a fun, goofy movie. Deep plot? No. Action, laughs and goofiness? Yes, please.

Coming in August from director Ruben Fleischer — who brought you “Zombieland” — is a film about two novice would be robbers (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) who recruit, by force, a pizza guy, Nick (Jesse Eisenberg) to rob a bank for them. If that happened to you what would you do? Go get your best bud of course, and that’s what Nick does. He grabs his best friend Chet (Aziz Ansari) to help him with this dilemma.

I can see a few movies here rolled into one, “Dude, Where’s My Car” and the “Harold and Kumar” series to name a couple. But that doesn’t mean this doesn’t look like a fun movie to see. The formula works because it’s fun to watch: hapless guys get into trouble and dig a little deeper in the hole before they can wriggle out of it.

I can’t wait to see how Nick and Chet wriggle out of this one.

“30 Minutes or less” opens Aug. 12.

With that cast, this has to be hilarious.
