Trailer: American Reunion

— by ALEXA MILAN —

It’s been eight years since Jim, Michelle, Stifler and the gang last graced the big screen, but they’re about to head back to theaters for one more slice of “American Pie.”

After the quest of high school friends to lose their virginity by graduation, a reunion by the lake after their first year in college and a wild trip to the altar, the East Great Falls class of 1999 are back together again for their high school reunion.

In “American Reunion,” Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) are still happily married, and now have a child. Chronic slacker Stifler (Seann William Scott) works as a temp. Oz (Chris Klein) and Heather (Mena Suvari) have gone their separate ways — he has a successful career in California and she’s dating a surgeon. Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) is married and works as an architect and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) still has a soft spot for Stifler’s mom (Jennifer Coolidge).

Tara Reid, Natasha Lyonne, Shannon Elizabeth, John Cho and Eugene Levy have also signed on to return.

The first trailer for “American Reunion” doesn’t reveal any new footage from the film, but shows a montage of photo booth-style stills of the cast. It’s obviously meant to play on fans’ nostalgia, and I have to admit it worked for me. I loved the three previous “American Pie” movies (and no, I am not acknowledging the four direct-to-video spin-off movies), with their entertaining blend of raunch comedy and heart. At first, I felt another “American Pie” movie was a bit unnecessary, but something about seeing the entire group back together again got me excited for one more installment.

“American Reunion” hits theaters April 6, 2012. Check out the first teaser for the movie below.
