Trailer Talk: ‘Do As I Say’

— by ALEXA MILAN —

A trailer recently was uploaded to You Tube for “Do As I Say,” a documentary by filmmakers Nicholas Tucker and Lucas Abel.

The movie is based on the book “Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy” by Peter Schweizer.

In the film, Tucker and Abel examine the mantra “Do as I say, not as I do” as it applies to Democratic political leaders and other prominent faces of liberalism. They travel the country seeking to expose leaders they feel are hypocritical in terms of the causes they endorse and the behavior they actually practice.

For example, in the trailer they compare Al Gore’s environmental awareness work to his actual carbon footprint. The film also discusses Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Michael Moore.

Overall, I think this looks like a pretty intriguing film and I’m interested in what types of hypocrisies the filmmakers uncover. I know the focus of the film is on liberal leaders, but I wish it examined hypocrisies on both sides of the political spectrum, offering a more balanced an in-depth portrayal of hypocrisy among high-profile public figures overall.

The film’s official Web site says that “Do As I Say” — which has played at a handful of film festivals — will be released on DVD in mid-October.
